Google Gemini launched feature named ‘Canvas‘ today.

To the ChatGPT users, this name may sound familiar. Yes it has exactly the same capabilities as ChatGPT Canvas and not surprisingly, is the named the same. Here’s a quick demo on a Home Vision Test app created in a couple of minutes using Gemini Canvas.

Here are 5 things you can do with Gemini Canvas:

  1. Write and Edit Documents: You can draft documents such as reports, essays, or blog posts and refine them using quick editing tools.
  2. Generate and Preview Code: You can create code snippets in languages like HTML, React, or Python, then preview the results instantly within Canvas. (as shown in the demo)
  3. Build Interactive Prototypes: Canvas enables users to design working prototypes, such as games, visualizations, or interactive web features. (as shown in the demo)
  4. Collaborate and Share Creations: You can refine their work with Gemini’s suggestions and export documents to Google Docs for team collaboration or share live previews of code and prototypes via URLs, making it easy to collaborate with others. (not in the demo but here’s the sharable link for the Vision Test app shown in the demo: https://gemini.google.com/share/223e12f13a0d)
  5. Learn and Experiment with Coding: Beginners and developers alike can use Canvas to explore coding concepts or test ideas. You can ask Canvas to explain you to code (as shown in the demo).
